Classic Fun at Sonny’s Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria
Sonny’s Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria of Sturgeon Bay has so many authentic Italian dishes to choose from that visitors are simply destined to fall in love with more than just one! With a breathtaking waterfront view, friendly environment, and the intoxicating aroma of your favorite Italian dishes, Sonny’s will help you feel as though you are thousands of miles away from home.
The secret to Sonny’s success starts with the ingredients. Shipped directly from Italian gardens, Sonny’s utilizes only fresh ingredients. Jason Estes, restaurant owner, then combines them in 20 different sauce recipes.
Favorites like the sweet mascarpone cream sauce and the vodka tomato cream sauce have been refined and perfected through years of experience. Served in one-pound portions, guests can choose to add everything from chicken to lobster, shrimp to mussels, and more.
“For us, the key is to try and hit everybody’s likings,” said Estes. “We have something for everyone.”
Of course, nothing says Italian in America quite like pizza. Sonny’s helps add fuel to the argument of thick crust or thin by offering a delicious deep dish, Chicago-style pizza, with thick, soft crust that may require a fork and knife to really enjoy properly. On the other end of the spectrum, try their hand tossed, thin crust pizza, made light and crispy, ensuring a perfect one handed meal.
If authentic Italian is what you’re looking for, make sure to order up a personal Neapolitan pizza. Measuring 12 inches in diameter, the crust is created using a double zero fine flour found primarily in Italy. The pizza is then topped and baked in an 800 degree wood fired oven for approximately 90 seconds. What awaits their guests is a soft, slightly elastic, and very fragrant slice of Italy. Also offered is Montanara style, where the dough is fried, then topped and baked in the wood fired oven. Just in case you thought you’d tried everything!
While Sonny’s Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria has made a name for themselves through their ever growing and perfecting food menu, they offer so much more. Recently added, Sonny’s has 28 tap handles offering unique craft beers. Focusing primarily on breweries located in the Midwest, guests can choose from a wide range of micro brews that include the likes of Goose Island, Door County Brewing and the Milwaukee Brewing Company. Keep track of what they’re offering up to the minute at TapHunter.com.
For the second year in a row, Sonny’s is offering their full menu on their outdoor patio seating area. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, guests can sit outside, enjoy dinner and drinks, all while taking in the beautiful sights of Sturgeon Bay. And if that isn’t enough, on Saturday evenings from 5-9pm, there is live music to help add to the wonderful atmosphere.
“We have a million-dollar water view here with the Sturgeon Bay Bridge nearby,” says Estes.
With the view and space available at Sonny’s, it makes for a perfect venue to host a wedding reception, family reunion, or any large summer party that may come to mind. The main reception hall can seat up to 100 people comfortably and offers a breathtaking view of the bay, making it perfect for photography opportunities.
