"The Broad Salon: The Women Artists of Door County" In 1996, the Peninsula Art School in Fish Creek initiated a series of brainstorming sessions. The focus of the meetings was how the PAS could better serve Door County's working artists. Today, eleven years later, the resulting "Broad Salon" continues to serve the peninsula's artists as an arena for friendly criticism and the exchange of ideas. On exhibit through February 26th, the public is invited to "experience" the artwork of nineteen members of the Broad Salon, whose mediums include pastels, watercolors, wood, pen and ink, and oils. The public is invited to visit the exhibit "The Broad Salon: The Women Artists of Door County" during regular DCA box office hours, Monday through Friday, 10 3 pm; show days, 11 3 pm; and one hour prior to a performance. The exhibit will include real history on the likes of Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, Anne Bonney and Mary Read, original works by nationally known painter and pirate illustrator Don Maitz, interactive stations to experience the challenge of a pirate's life, and a look at the crime and criminals that plied the Great Lakes.
