Golfing in Sturgeon Bay
Get out of town and escape to Sturgeon Bay and all the manly-man things you can do.  From charter fishing to golfing to hiking to visiting all the bars & pubs in the area, Sturgeon Bay will keep you busy and almost out of trouble.
Many of Sturgeon Bay's lodging facilities welcome fishermen: Super 8 Motel has outdoor plug-ins for boats, trailers & RVs, Chal-A-Motel can assist in catch-of-the-day storage with freezers, and Best Western Maritime Inn is located across the street from the Neighborhood Pub & Grill for those end of the day drinks you don't want to drive back to a motel after.  There's even campgrounds at Tranquil Timbers or located within Potawatomi State Park if you're truly into roughing it.
Hearty breakfasts can be had at 5am at Hot Tamales, or McDonald's and 6am at Scaturo's Baking Co. & Restaurant, 7am is when the rest of the restaurants open: Galley Café, Inn at Cedar Crossing, or grab a box lunch from Bluefront Cafe
The local city, county and state parks all have a representation of boat launching facilities.  If more expertise is needed, consult one of our charter fishing guidesVisit http://www.sturgeonbaywaters.com/ for more information. With nine in the area, there's likely to be someone who specializes in your favorite: whether trout, walleye, perch, pike, salmon or bass.
If nine charters are not to your taste why not try out nine holes or eighteen, if the spirit moves you.  Certainly your back swing will be loose after casting after the fish for the mantle.  Two great golf courses are located near Sturgeon Bay: Cherry Hills Golf Course & Resort – a little north of town – and Idlewild Golf Course – a little south of town.  The nineteenth hole always delivers your favorite food items – restaurant or pub style.
If the course doesn't appeal, hit the trails by hiking or biking in our State Parks or along the Ahnapee Trail. For those of you visiting in late fall/early winter, hunting is limited to private property with the exception of a few county parks after November 15th and then with special permission obtained through the Parks Department -- (920)746-9959.  So get a buddy to loan you the keys to the secluded family cottage.
The bars and restaurants in the area will always let you relax after a hard day of roving in Sturgeon Bay and Door County.
