COVID-19 Planning

#SturgeonBayLove

Door County Public Health has lifted its stay of the Safer at Home order and   all businesses are now allowed to reopen following the recommended guidelines of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

While businesses are allowed to open, please check ahead to make sure that your favorites actually are. Some businesses are still working on preparations to reopen, so it's best to call.

While things may look a little different, know that our businesses have been working diligently to reopen so that it's safe for you and their employees. A few items of note in helping you plan your visit:

  • Many businesses are requiring face coverings or masks, so please make sure to pack yours. Please understand that many businesses have chosen to do this not only to keep you safe, but because they might have staff members   that are at risk themselves.
  • Social distancing is in place wherever you might go (remember that 6' rule), so this means that your favorite restaurants will have fewer tables available. Waits might be longer than you're used to, but know that most everyone will continue their curbside pick-up and/or delivery options.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are everywhere, and most businesses will require you to use them upon entry and exit.
  • Check-out shields. Many businesses have installed plexiglass shields again for the protection of their customers and staff.
  • Businesses will have their expectations and guidelines posted at their entryways. Please take a minute to look for them before entering. Look for these three most common requests:

Local Events

We're beyond disappointed that we've had to cancel a number of 2020 events already this year, but the words of David Eliot, Publisher of the Peninsula Pulse, seemed to sum up exactly what we're feeling. Here's to spending more one-on-one time with you and your friends and families!

We may not have festivals in 2020, but we have each other. We may not have large gatherings, but we know how to keep people safe, how to entertain, how to build relationships. We are consummate hosts, and our home has so much to offer visitors. We have beautiful parks, outstanding artists, fantastic food and incredible people.

Soon we will be welcoming back our extended family. We will find a way to celebrate together. We always do. It will be different, but we will find a way together. It is what we do best.
