Door County Public Health, part of the Door County Department of Health and Human Services, works to support the health and wellbeing of our community through a variety of programs. Qualifying individuals can receive immunizations by appointment; please call our office to see if you qualify. Public Health prevents the spread of illness from person to person through education and investigations. Another initiative is childhood lead poisoning prevention and lead exposure follow up. We keep our community safe by working with other agencies to plan for emergency disasters or outbreaks. New parents and others qualifying can have free home visits by a Registered Public Health Nurse. Vision and hearing screenings are done for children in schools and daycares. We offer the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program for supplemental foods and nutrition education to income eligible families. We are involved in education and investigation into environmental health topics such as well water, radon, beach safety, and mold. Our household sharps program allows individuals to safely dispose of items like needles and lancets. Finally, Public Health provides education throughout the community on many different health related topics. To learn more, visit our Facebook page, or call us at 920-746-2234.
