28th Annual Classic & Wooden Boat Festival

The Door County Maritime Museum (DCMM) is hosting the 28th Annual Classic & Wooden Boat Festival, Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 10am - 3pm, August 11  and 12! Free entry.

Why should you go? Here are a few reasons…

  • Beautiful boats of all shapes and sizes. The term “Classic & Wooden Boats” doesn’t do the craftsmanship of these vessels justice.
  • Your gorgeous or unique boat is invited to participate as well! Email the Door County Maritime Museum to register.
  • Sikaflex boatbuilding begins Saturday at 10am. What’s Sikaflex boatbuilding, you ask? This fun event challenges contestants to design, build, and race a small boat utilizing limited plywood, lumber, and only fast curing Sikaflex®-291 as the adhesive and sealant. Contestants put their creations through sea trials Sunday at 1pm. Want to join in the building fun? Sign Up Here
  • Aquacar. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. A car that can drive on land and motor through the water. And it will be motoring around during the festival. The men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard will be on hand to give tours, answer questions, and demonstrate the abilities of their vessels.
  • Boat House sale – it’s a rummage sale for maritime related items. Take a look, you might find a treasure or learn something new from the volunteers manning the goods.
  • Tour a tugboat. Take a tour of the immaculately restored John Purves tugboat or the Door County Maritime Museum where the “Shipwrecks of Door County” exhibit awaits your arrival. Museum admission prices are $10 for adults and $4 for children ages 5 -16 with no cost for tikes 4 years of age and younger. Tugboat admission is $3.

There is no cost for admission to all outdoor festival events throughout the weekend, and the museum is currently accepting donations for its Boathouse Sale. All proceeds from the Boathouse Sale support the preservation and celebration of the area’s maritime heritage.
