Explore Like a Local: Walk or Run
There’s nothing quite like a morning run or evening stroll around the historic streets of Sturgeon Bay, Door County. Want to run/walk with us? We’ve mapped out a couple of our personal favorites just for you!
Our Sites in the City Bridge Walk/Run clocks out at just over a mile (1.2 to be exact) and is a fun way to see Sturgeon Bay and its working waterfront.
Look one direction, and you can see the ship canal that was dredged back in the late 1800’s. Look the other, and catch the Bay of Green Bay, the shipyards of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and the 1000’ freighters.
Our Sites in the City Run/Walk, a healthy 3 mile trek, gives you a tour of Sturgeon Bay’s east and west side with a glimpse into several of our residential historic districts, in addition to the sites of the Bridge to Bridge run/walk.
If you’re looking for a little more, or want to head out of the “city” into some of our crisp, clean air, try a run/walk along Third Avenue as it heads north and turns into Bayshore Drive.
If you’re up for a challenge, take this route all the way to George Pinney County Park (the old Quarry Park) for an incredible view of the Sherwood Point Lighthouse as it juts out into the Bay of Green Bay.
And if it’s trail running/walking that you’re looking for, make sure to find your way to Crossroads at Big Creek, the Ahnapee State Trail or Potawatomi State Park (to name just a few!).
There’s nothing that we love more than having tons of choices when we’re out for a little exercise in the place we call home.
