What’s New to Explore in 2019?
We're super excited to announce there have LOTS of new additions rolling into our fun-loving town - including new businesses, attractions, and ways to explore the Door like a local!
Top 12 New Items to Cross Off Your Door County Bucket List:
1 - Cherry Lanes
Cherry Lanes is a retro styled arcade bar that opened November 2018. New to Sturgeon Bay, Cherry Lanes is a great hang out spot for people of all ages. In addition to the bar, four bowling lanes, a pool table, air hockey table, darts, pinball machines, and old-school arcade games are ready to use by people of all ages.
2 - Nicolet Bank Tall Ships®️ Salute
The tall ships are making their way back to Sturgeon Bay on July 29, 2019. Ships will make their way from Green Bay, through the Sturgeon Bay canal, and dock overnight at various locations such as Graham Park. Click here for more information on the event.
3 - Steel Bridge Radio: New Original Music
The Steel Bridge Radio is not new to Sturgeon Bay but the songs are! Various local artists collaborate annually during Love on Holiday, Steel Bridge Songfest, and Dark Songs to create beautiful music to our ears. These three popular music events provide the radio station with constant new music options for listeners to enjoy. The Steel Bridge Radio original music can be heard at the Holiday Music Motel or online at any time. You can listen 24/7/365 by downloading the free 'Steel Bridge Radio' app on your phone or tablet devices or by going to SteelBridgeRadio.com.
4 - Door 44 Winery: New Winery
This brand new 11,000 square foot winery will be opening Spring 2019. Located on a hilltop, this new winery will overlook the vineyard where Door 44 Winery harvests grapes in which they use to produce their fine wines. Connoisseurs are able to savor the flavor of their wine while overlooking, literally, the fruits of their spirits.
5 - Bridge Up Brewing
Coming soon craft beer will be brewed downstairs of Sonny’s Pizzeria in Sturgeon Bay. Located along the water and next to the historic bridge of Sturgeon Bay, Bridge Up Brewing is a great stop for a drink with a beautiful view.
6 - Door County Maritime Museum: Artifacts Walking Map
Later this year, the Door County Maritime Museum will have an artifacts walking map available to the public. This map will include artifacts such as the John Purves tug and United States Coast Guard 41-footer.
7 - Cedar Crossing Restaurant & Bar: Renovated Restaurant and Bar
For those who have visited Inn at Cedar Crossing in years past, the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center encourages you to visit in 2019. The bar area which was once closed, is now open and renovated for a relaxed experience. The dining room has been remodeled to provide an elegant and cozy dining experience for all.
8 - Bay Shore Outfitters: Electric Bike Rental
Starting summer 2019, Bay Shore Outfitters will be renting out electric bikes. These popular bikes allow bikers to easily get around Sturgeon Bay and the county. These speedy bikes can reach up to 20mph with minimal effort by the rider. The electrically charged bikes can last up to 90 miles. Bikers could travel from Sturgeon Bay to Egg Harbor and back with no problem!
9 - Healthy Way Market: Grab N Go Food Selection
Sturgeon Bay’s go-to whole foods grocery store, Healthy Way Market now has a “Grab N Go” option available. This food case has healthy, ready-to-go meals to purchase- great for those who are looking for a healthy option without having to prepare their own meal.
10 - Ahava Spa
Coming soon to Sturgeon Bay, Ahava Spa offers one of a kind healing and relaxing experiences for all. A few services include: dead sea floatation therapy, Himalayan salt cave therapy, aesthetic laser treatment, yoga, and massage.
11 - Novel Bay Booksellers: Reading Room
Owners, Liz and John, saw an opportunity available and quickly made a dream into reality. At Novel Bay Booksellers reading enthusiasts can find brand new books of all topics. You don’t need to go far for a quiet space to read your new book. Located in the back room of the shop, the newly designed reading room is available for guests to utilize. Chairs, couch, desk, and table are provided to those looking for a quiet space to work or read.
12 - Let’s Roam Scavenger Hunt
Available soon for purchase and experience is the Sturgeon Bay Let’s Roam scavenger hunt. Visitors and locals alike will be able to journey through Sturgeon Bay on a mission as they compete for a place on the leaderboard. This scavenger hunt contest incorporates engaging photo opportunities and trivia questions for various groups including but not limited to bachelorette/bachelor parties, birthday parties, co-workers, and families.
