Sturgeon Bay’s Great Fishing!
The month of May, to most fishermen, means the start of the open water season. Everyone knows that the fishing around Sturgeon Bay never ends, but May is a long-awaited month to the avid angler.
It means bass fishing is open, walleye limits expand to five (5), perch fishing starts, and the musky season is in full swing. It’s pretty easy to see why Sturgeon Bay, Door County is THE choice for today’s sport fisherman.
From trophy smallmouth, walleye, northern pike, perch and musky, they’re all here in May and ready to be caught. And as the weather warms up, you can bet the salmon season on Lake Michigan won’t be far behind.
Fishing tournaments occupy the weekends of local fishermen as well as out-of-town guests and that means that spouses and families have plenty of time to enjoy what Sturgeon Bay, Door County has to offer.
Fun shops, wineries, brew pubs, and unique tours can fill up one’s free time pretty quickly, so make sure to book a few extra days to see all that this waterfront community has to offer.

The Sturgeon Bay Sport Fishing Association (SBSFA), made up of 14 charter captains and guides, as well as several fishing friendly businesses, is ready to make your fishing experience memorable.
The goal of the SBSFA is to provide you and your fishing party the best time on the water from smaller boat bass, walleye, northern and perch fishing to big boat Lake Michigan salmon fishing.
